Hammering away at this surface concept that won't let me go. Its been a blast doing these. :D

Changed the color and render perspective and dimmed the lighting down bit.

Thanks bud. I have another one I'm working on for this series right now. I just can't seem to shake this concept. I really like it. It just blows my mind seeing in my head "what if" this or that just mysteriously popped up out of the ground lol...=p

I know! Pretty crazy. I'd like to know how you get some of these ideas; all mine are never really that creative or abstract. :)

I just think in two ways for my art. The colorful shiny look or dark dramatic scenes. I just have a crazy imagination. I think like a kid when I try to come up with ideas...or at least try to.

I loved that some of your surface monsters face in some direction that I used them as desktop backgrounds to get a feeling of competition

The detail is excellent. What type of creature did you have in mind when you were making this?

Its pretty crazy but I was using a reference picture of the Hulk. I had this idea of having a superhuman d00d come out but I started sculpting wrinkles and stuff and this came out...far cry from the Hulk huh? lol =p

Ah, a pretty interesting development of ideas there, hehe. Of course, art has a tendency to change itself in the process of its creation (well for me at least).

Nice render, awesome sculpt. The next evolution of the common slime monsters that have plagued RPG's since the 80's?

how do you make this?
Reply
:icontonare:
tonare Featured By Owner Feb 21, 2012  Professional Digital Artist
Well I start with a plain base in c4d, extruded it, moved around some polygons and points to get somewhat of a bump in the middle and a shape that I could see myself going further with. I used GoZ to Import that into zBrush and turned on symmetry and started using the move brush to get an even better general shape. Then I just went to town with the clay build up brush, Damien Standard Brush, Trim Dynamics brush and the Standard Brush. I just sculpted from there. I did use Dynamesh at first but didn't really need it after I look back on it.

Hope that helps. :)
